FOLDING@HOME FAQS

WHAT IS FOLDING@HOME

Folding@home (FAH or F@h) is a distributed computing project for simulating protein dynamics, including the process of protein folding and the movements of proteins implicated in a variety of diseases. It brings together citizen scientists who volunteer to run simulations of protein dynamics on their personal computers. Insights from this data are helping scientists to better understand biology, and providing new opportunities for developing therapeutics.

HOW DOES F@H WORK?

The F@H Software is a package that runs in the background of your computer and starts up when you are away. It connects your computer to a network of millions of others and assigns it calculations to complete. This software can then be used to run complex calculations by breaking it down into simple parts. After you install it and configure when it should run, all you need to do is leave your computer alone for a bit as it calculates.

HOW DO I MAKE SURE THAT MY F@H WORK IS COUNTED TOWARDS HACK THE PANDEMIC?

After setting up F@H, You will see a spot on the control panel with a box to input a team code. Please input code: 259118 so that we can track the output of our team!
